Bought these and was disappointed with the size (quite big and bulky for a 4 month old) and the sound they make doesn't sound like a maracas at all. I gave them to my 4 month old daughter and she was fine with it, not her favorite. I reintroduced them at 6 months and they quickly rose to the top of their list. Now with almost 8 months she still loves them and always takes them with her when she plays. She loves to knock and shake them. They held up but I had a hard time washing the soft side. I can imagine that if I submerged it to wash it or put it in the washing machine, some condensation would form on the clear dome, so washing it is quite difficult. Also, as said, they don't sound like maracas at all. The balloons in the dome are too big and don't make a satisfying sound. Otherwise, this is a great inexpensive toy for a child.
