Nirvana Home Office

These are great headphones if you work in a slightly noisy home or office and have put up with bad headphones for long enough. I am a busy father working from home. We have children who play and scream, play the piano, run away from home and away from home. After using the very light and cool Plantronics Encore H101N for ten years, I decided I needed something better for listening to music and editing audio and video while reducing background noise around the house. These headphones are perfect for that. It is also possible to raise the microphone so that it turns off automatically when my wife or child comes in to speak to me. You can also tell when it's on that it's safe to talk. It's easier and safer to sneak out to dinner during a boring conference call โ€” I no longer have to wonder if my sound is on or off. I can go back and use my Plantronics in warmer weather, but I will be wearing my GAME ZERO in the fall, fall and spring. I bought them and the GAME ONE to compare and ended up keeping these GAME ZEROs. I'll admit that the Open-GO headphones sound a little better, especially with Dolby 7.1 enabled via a USB dongle, but that dongle can be purchased separately. The soundstage in GAME ONE is amazing, but these are pretty good. I'm not an avid player but I'm happy with them. If I were a fanatic and had a smaller head I would keep GO to myself. My wife likes GOs because they are cooler and she can hear what the kids are doing better than GAME ZERO isolation when it works. My ears get a little warm in the GZ, but I just lower the temperature by 2 degrees and everything is fine. Works great in winter. The mic is great for Skype or other voice calls, and I have monstrously long VOIP calls - sometimes 6-8 hours. GAME ZERO never causes discomfort even for such a long period of time. I recommend a small phone windscreen over the microphone to reduce explosion noise. I really appreciate the detachable cable that allows me to listen to my iOS devices. that works great. It lacks 3-button controls, but does have a volume rocker on the right earcup, as well as a fold-down mic for muting. I can live with it. They're better than the GO for big daddy-sized heads or if you just like super handy cans. GO after 1-2 hours of wearing will cause a headache. I prefer the velor fabric on the ear cups over the hot GZ "leather" but Sennheiser tech support explained that the "leather" is necessary for sound isolation. I agree. If you really need velor cups you can order them separately as they are interchangeable between models. Auto-mute on pick-up mic is perfect for long conference calls when you need to make sure the mic is off to talk to someone in the room or eat lunch. You no longer have to wonder if the sound is really muted. The noise canceling feature works well, minimizing background noise but not eliminating it completely. I bought them at the same time as GAME ZERO and decided to keep them and return GAME ONE for the following reasons: 1 - GZ stacks flat 2 - GZ has a detachable cable including a shorter IOS 3 compatible cable - GZ ear pads are bigger . South! They feel like Cadillacs upside down. Heavenly. GZ is generally more comfortable, apart from the heat. 4 - Closed backs. The sound is actually better on the GO, but if I have to work or listen to a conference call while my daughter plays the piano in the next room, I can get by with a little less spatial fidelity. I am a busy father working remotely. out of the house. If you have a full grown male head and can turn the temperature down a bit so your ears don't ring above your head and you don't work in a busy home or office, choose GAME ZERO. If you're wondering if $200 isn't too much for a good headset, wonder no more. That. you deserve it It's a small favor you deserve for being chained to your desk all day. The only more comfortable headset is the Bose QC-25. This is mainly because they are lighter and have better digital audio processing. But they cost $100 more, require a battery for the best sound, and to be honest the Sennheiser mic is better for its position, size and noise-canceling design. If you want super light weight and noise cancellation, get Bose. If you can live with a little more weight, a better mic, and confident muting, get the Sennheiser Game Zero.
