Review on 🚘 Chevrolet/GMC Replacement Blower Assembly - TYC 700187 by Joseph Katipally

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ideal for fan motors

After solving a common fan problem I decided to replace the fan motor on my 2004 GMC Canyon. only works on stage 4. (Replacing the resistor and pigtail connector started stages 1-3, but they were all the same.) The TYC fan motor was a perfect match. It has a slightly different shape than the original, which actually made installing the engine easier than removing the original. The main reason it gets four stars instead of five is that this motor seems to be louder than the original. (I don't know if it's noticeable while driving though.) If you decide to replace the engine yourself, here are a few tips: - To replace everything, first remove the glove box. There are three screws holding the glove box to the bottom of the glove box. The fan motor screws on my Canyon had a 5.5mm head. (The resistor did too if you replace it too.) - The fan motor is held on by three screws. While two screws are relatively easy to remove, the third is quite difficult to remove. I've found that the easiest way to remove the motor is to unscrew the tricky rear screw first. This allows the other two screws to stabilize the fan while the rear screw is removed. To remove the rear screw I needed a 1/4" socket wrench (easier than a wrench) as well as a 1/4" wrench. flexible socket. I also opted for a 1/4" flexible universal joint. (It's probably easier to order them from Revain along with a fan if you don't have one than to drive twice to Sears Hardware in the middle of an install, as I did had to do!) - No need for the small, flexible L-pipe when swapping out the motor. The new motor connects directly to the intake. When I saw that they didn't fit, at first I thought the motor wouldn't fit.- In case you Haven't yet replaced the ACDelco 15-80521 resistor, the fan motor resistor assembly, and the ACDelco PT1231 pigtail connector, 4-pin female connector with conclusions, I strongly recommend that you do so when replacing the fan, it would take me a lot of time spare to do it together. Hope this review helps!

Pros
  • The fan (fan wheel) is pre-balanced with the motor for perfect fit and performance
Cons
  • Not bad
