October 23, 2018 Item arrived quickly and in good condition. Nnewvante specially sent a care bottle to extend the lifespan of this bamboo product, so thank you to her. The build is decent and everything works as it should, however the asterisk has been removed due to some minor issues. First, the only straight cuts on this thing are for the legs. The box isn't quite square so it snags a bit when you try to open it. The side of the laptop table is separated by a cutout of about 182 degrees instead of a straight 180 degrees. It's very slight and probably won't pose a problem mechanically, but you can tell it's not cut quite right. . The final cosmetic issue is the vent cutout and under the table edges, and this is the main reason for the loss of the star. You'll likely need to buff those hard edges to remove chips and burrs, as wiping with the damp cloth they recommend isn't enough to remove them. I will update in a few weeks to report on overall durability in use. .------ 11/29/2018: I have used this desk a lot in the last few weeks. Following the bamboo care guide resulted in a noticeable smoothing out of the fan vents. A light sanding definitely helped, but conditioning the wood is absolutely essential. The table is very comfortable and the standard height works well in a lounge chair or even on the floor. high. The only way to fix this is to reassemble the crate components, but I wouldn't recommend that as it seems like the pieces were never square to begin with. If you need a portable table with a drawer for storage I would look elsewhere. The more you use your portable table, the more freely your legs will move. This is both a blessing and a curse; There will never be any trouble opening the table again, but the locking mechanism only keeps the legs open, not closed. Clearing the table after use resulted in my feet touching my face at times. I wouldn't consider this a deal breaker though, as the solution is quite simple: don't turn the tables back on putting it away. Overall I recommend this product (if you don't need a drawer on your desk) for your use. The result is a solid and stable workspace with plenty of depth and breadth to work with. I was able to do painting tasks, work on the computer and even play some games with him on my computer. The fan slots help keep my computer cool and definitely lighten the desk's weight a bit. I really like that the book stand is optional and fits nicely in a drawer (although it can be difficult to access at times). The angles on the adjustable side of the surface are perfect for reading, and those who prefer to use the Nintendo 3DS with a stand will find this table perfect for that too.
