There is a newer version of Sony's portable BR player, but I chose the older version for a number of reasons. First, at 10.1 inches, the BDP 1000 has a larger screen than the 9 of the BDP 910. It also has a longer battery life of 5 hours and a longer power cord. There were a few complaints that the cable was too short for the new BDP 910, so it wasn't difficult. The price has also dropped drastically, most likely due to a newer model on the market. So far I like this player. It has a great screen and as I have other Sony BR players navigating the menus and using the remote control is very easy. My biggest complaint about the player is the heavy humming noise of the running engine. I think if you look at the player a few meters away you can hear the sound of the car. The BDP 1000 is still a great player and having it next to my computer helps me catch up. on all BR films when I'm working on my computer.
