I bought this because of the battery life. On my first trip, I had enough time to watch three films, so I'm very satisfied. Also the screen size is great for watching movies and has a very clear image.

I have doubts about this product. I just bought two of these 3 months ago and the battery on one of them seems to be on the verge of failure. I plugged the non-working device into a regular outlet with my cord and it didn't charge. I'll be patient and hook it up to a car charger to see how it works. that's all i have to say for now.

Honestly I expected more from Sony at this price point. It plays great and I love having a remote control. The buttons on the remote control don't sync well with the player, so you'll need to learn how to use them. In addition, not all buttons on the player itself work, so you have to use the remote control. Finally, there is no brightness function for dimming or brightening. This dims it a bit. I don't think I would buy this again.

I needed a portable BluRay DVD player that could play all formats, including .mkv files. This one does. Also, I plug my pass into a USB port and it plays all the movies I've downloaded onto it. The controls respond to a very light finger touch. My only complaint is that the FF or Fast Reverse controls are awkward to use. You have to keep the button pressed the whole time. There is a newer version of Sony's portable BR player, but I chose the older version for a number of reasons. First, at 10.1 inches, the BDP 1000 has a larger screen than the 9 of the BDP 910. It also has a longer battery life of 5 hours and a longer power cord. There were a few complaints that the cable was too short for the new BDP 910, so it wasn't difficult. The battery in this DVD player is NOT user replaceable. Therefore, you should expect a service life of 2 to 3 years with this machine. An internet search revealed that there are no batteries or third party vendors that could service this machine. Hence one would have to take it to Sony where it would be VERY expensive to replace if a battery was available.
