There is nothing wrong with the phone itself. The whole thing is excellent, yet unremarkable. The visual presentation is excellent. The performance is so bad that Internet browsing is about all you can expect to be able to do. There will be no games or sophisticated apps. At all. The camera is mediocre, but given the low price, that's to be expected. And if it weren't for the cost, we could have overlooked everything else. It was $12,000 in May of 2022, but without the war it would be closer to $9,000 or $10,000 today—extremely steep pricing for a phone of this quality. Compared to other phones, the Redmi 8 is a tremendous value. If you prefer not to deal with the Chinese, the Samsung M12 will serve you just as well for the same price, and it may even outperform the A12 in some situations. I would not recommend purchasing this phone due to its excessive price. Yet, if you're not a starving Samsung fanatic, the M12 is the way to go. Thus, with the cost in mind, I'd give it a 3, and without it, a 7. Locate someplace between $6,000 and $8,000 and you'll be able to make an offer.
