Review on Wet dog food Wellness CORE 95, turkey, with cabbage 1 pack. x 1 pc. x 400 g (for small breeds) by Dorota Bartosiak She ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not perfect quality, there is a small defect.

Not cheating, but marketing! That's what I thought when I saw the description of the food: "95% of the composition is one protein of animal origin." The Wellness Core brand comes from the USA, for the European market, wet food is produced in Germany at the Landguth Heimtiernahrung GmbH plant. They also produce food under the brand name Berkley, Noviel, Duke's Farm and others. On the front side of the jar you can see the inscription "95% single protein" with an asterisk. I find a footnote on the label and find out that "95% animal origin ingredients from a single protein source" or translated into 2022 "95% animal origin ingredients from a single protein source" In the original version, it's even simpler: 95% Turkey - 95% turkey. That is, the food is NOT 95% single source protein, but 95% of the ingredients are single source animal protein sources. If you think that the composition of this food is short: 95% turkey meat and 5% cabbage, then you are wrong! The 2022 translation is printed on the back of the label. We read the composition: turkey (not protein! My note) 95% (fresh meat, liver, heart, lungs 66%; chicken broth 29%), cabbage 4%, mineral supplements 1%. WHAT?! chicken broth is added to turkey meat?! and why from chicken if the food is monoprotein? Referring to the texts in other languages: the broth is still turkey, and adding liquid to the meat corresponds to the statement on the label: turkey broth? means a product of turkey origin. Need to understand! By the way, in the 2022 version, the composition is "improved": in English: heart, liver, meat, neck. in 2022: fresh meat, liver, heart, lungs. Guaranteed analysis sincerely pleases: proteins - 11.4%, fats - 4.8%, fiber - 0.4%, raw ash - 2.1%, moisture - 79.0%. The feeding rate, on the contrary, is NOT at all pleasing: 620 grams per 10 kilogram dog per day, in my opinion a lot for the declared composition. Given the norms of correction for mixed feeding In the original, 35 grams of dry food is equivalent to 1 can of food. On her website, Valta indicated 1 can is equivalent to 18 grams of feed.

Pros
  • Composition, organoleptic
Cons
  • Translation quality, claim of 95% composition as protein. Very high feeding rate for the declared composition and guaranteed analysis. The price is higher than other feeds from the same factory.
