We have hard water from our municipal water supply and normally use Culligan shower filters and were interested in trying this one which had more filter media (20um to be exact) than the individual 55 filter media used in Culligan filters. Well, I can't attest to the effectiveness of all 15 filter media used in this filter (like anion balls, magnetic beads!?! etc), but at least it has the same KDF 55 filter media that uses a Cullicgan filter, and beyond it also contains activated carbon, which is widely used in water filtration systems, including drinking water. And this on paper actually gave real results as it softened the water better than Culligan. I tested both with WaterWorks water hardness test strips. Note, however, that using a PPM meter may not provide accurate results because the PPM meter only measures dissolved particles in water. and this filter actually increases the amount of PPM in your water due to the extra beneficial minerals, Vit C, Vit E etc. it adds to your shower water. Overall both my wife and I are very happy with this shower filter as it is excellent value for money - the whole filter including 5 filter cartridges, water band. You definitely can't beat this value for money and best of all, the results back it up. Highly recommended.
