The new hi-fi standard

Exactly what I was looking for! In search of that special sound, I tried several amplifiers and several speakers. Polk s20 by Rp600m, klipsch 51m etc. They have a warmth and finesse that suits my Sprout 100 perfectly. They have amazing softness and warmth but are backed by some of the most powerful bass I've ever had. heard in a bookshelf speaker. Not to mention that these soft and pleasant sounds make a huge difference when you turn on the device. When unpacked, these things are heavy. The first bookshelf speaker I got my hands on had a significantly heavier front end and you can tell it has some very heavy drivers. They're rated at 6 ohms, but Andrew Jones himself said in a YouTube video that they can pull up to 3.8 ohms or so, meaning you're better off having a 4 ohm amp. Luckily there are 100 rungs and it pushes them so well. Can't say enough good things about her. Finally my Sprout 100 has that warm and pretty shade I was looking for. Everything else up to here sounded a bit cool and too dry for my taste. At least with this amp. Choose your amplifier and speaker combination wisely. To bring back the musicality of Class D amps, this speaker is what you need. If you're using the rp600m I strongly recommend using a class AB amp to tone them down a bit. I'm keeping it and I'm already in love. I can't wait for them to move in completely. BTW I've seen mixed things compared to the rp600m. But I will say that in my room (where the speaker needs to be relatively close to the wall) they sound a lot better than the rear ported rp600m. The front port really does seem to allow them to be placed a bit closer to the wall and while not optimal they sound damn good. Which makes them more comfortable speakers for me. Low end listening is great, still very detailed and lively at low volumes. I turn it up as loud or nearly as loud as my rp600m, which came as a shock to me given Klipsh's claims that the sensitivity has been increased by 8dB. Maybe it's because they can handle 4 ohms and my Sprout 100 is able to deliver twice as much power into 4 ohms. These speakers never fail to impress me. These are the first bookshelf speakers where I honestly don't need a subwoofer to hear music. I have a good SVS SB2000 Pro but I have found that compared to all other bookshelf speakers I turn the sound down. On my rp600m I would use about -14dB on the subwoofer, on these Elac references I use -24dB. This made me realize just how much mid-bass was missing from previous bookshelf speakers.

Pros
  • expensive but decent
Cons
  • too stupid
