Review on YINTATECH 52-inch Wrought Iron Large Flight Bird Cage: 🐦 Ideal for Parakeets, Canaries, Finches, Lovebirds, Parrotlets, Conures, and Cockatiels by Jennifer Williams

Almost perfect: bird cages

I have three reasons why this cage got 3 stars. If I could I would rate it 3.5 stars. I have two of these cages, one for budgies and one for cockatiels. This is very good for my cockatiel. If it had nest doors and about 6 inches more storage underneath, I think it would be almost perfect for a cockatiel or similar sized bird. I would still recommend this cage to anyone looking to start, but would recommend purchasing a higher quality cage in the future. I rate it mainly based on my feelings about this cage for my budgies. Reason 1. The distance between the bars. For owners of budgies, parrots, finches and other exotic birds of this size, I would recommend looking into other cages. My budgies can squeeze through the bars. I would blame myself for buying this cage because the bar spacing is advertised as 0.6 inches and for budgies the maximum you should use is 0.5 inches. I wasn't so informed but bird species are advertised so the star has been removed. Reason 2. Missing nest doors. As a new owner of a few budgies kept in a temporary but overpriced Petsmart cage, I wanted to spoil my trimmed budgies by giving them the largest cage I could without spending hundreds of dollars on a cage alone. I didn't realize how useful nest doors can be and how some bird cage items like bowls, bird baths, nests etc use nest doors. It was sometimes difficult to attach perches to the back of the cage as the front doors restricted access to them. Perhaps nest doors would make installation easier if not used for food or water. Speaking of food and water, you should immediately swap out the food and water bowls that came with the cage. Please note that Petsmart's cage was about 1/3 the size and cost a little more. I didn't even notice or frankly didn't know what nest doors are and didn't bother and honestly it's really not that big of an issue, it just adds to my decision to donate the cage to a local lifeguard and have one to find better place. fits in the cage for my budgies reason 3. overall quality. It feels like, to keep the price down, they're cutting out the stuff that other manufacturers put in cages that appear to be about $20 more expensive. Distance between perches is too big for budgies over time, some perches are wider than others, food bowls are plastic which is not good over time, no doors for nests, flimsy clips for the chain that holds the door lock, my budgies the included bowls knock over when they fly off which makes a big mess, my 2 year old can bend the cage bars too easily, the bottom storage space is tight and I prefer to put things on top of the cage how narrow it is is below. Overall this is a good cage, just not premium or ideal for long term use, but it comes close. If they ever update this cage I'd like to see either less/equal grid spacing (or proper advertising of what species of birds this cage is for), nest doors, better door locking mechanism, stainless steel lining and water. Bowls, or at least bowls my birds can knock over when they jump off her. As I have ordered two of these cages I will be donating one to the local emergency services and keeping the other as an emergency/quarantine cage.
