FIXED RING! I set the timer a couple of times and the time clicked fine but didn't ping. So I decided it was time to break up. I rotated it RIGHT past 60 as instructed to activate the alarm mechanism, THEN rotated it LEFT past "0" to about 58 (did this 3 times in a row). It seemed to me that there was a burr on the alarm mechanism that hadn't been smoothed out. Then I set a timer for 5 minutes. When the bell rang, IT HAPPENED! I've used it several times and every time it rings as it should. Now that it's ringing, I like this alarm clock very much and would buy it again. Before you throw yours away because it doesn't ring, try my solution and you'll find that you really like the timer. You have nothing to lose!
