The first thing I personally didn't like about this filter is that it doesn't fit in a standard 10 gallon aquarium. When I fully assembled the surface skimmer, I had to prop it up with a block to set it at the correct height. The second thing I didn't like was the surface skimmer itself. You have to keep the water level very high for it to work properly and in shorter pools the skimmer to return height ratio is too close together. This will also cause the skimmer to malfunction. If the skimmer fails, the filter return will just drip. I ended up just throwing it in the trash.
