Review on KOHLER K-1037021-BN Standard Plunger Assembly, Brushed Nickel by Cody Stroop

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Worthy replacement - be sure of the size you need!

UPDATED 09/25/2020: ----------- My rating remains the same; I think this is a great piece. Just note that the older K-1037021-BN had a gray body and bottom, while the newer ones had a gray body and white bottom. The fit is still the same, but due to a lot of confusion on the Kohler website (their customer service will go by color, which isn't always accurate), I wanted to mention the color change in the details. -------- ---------------------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Basically this is a decent flushing piston to replace your existing (broken?) Kohler piston. Make sure you get the right size. Although Kohler's website seems to list different sizes, when it comes to telling them apart, the website AND their customer service team have no clue. the size. If you order 1036994 and really need 1037021 you will find that the cap fits the sink drain but the plunger wobbles because the ribs are too narrow. It's best to choose by color and if you have a piston with dark gray ribs AND a dark gray underside then you probably need 1037021. Other than that it's a well fitting and worthy replacement. Kohler makes a small notch on the bottom so you can either install it right (the hole on the bottom of the piston that threads through the ball stem) OR wrong (which still works fine) with the piston resting on the ball stem . I see many homes where the part is installed the second way. I personally prefer it for an easier exchange.
