Ozone generator not safe for residential use

The owner's manual for the ozone purifier has instructions on how to turn on the machine and set the timer. The timer can be set in five minute increments up to one hour. Not all parts are identified or explained. There are two plastic tubes with a hard round end. One end is white. The end of the other tube is grey. None of this is explained. The plastic tube with the white end arrived bent and crimped so I'm not sure how well it works. security warnings. Immediately after connecting this device, I noticed an odor. Many sources report that when you smell ozone, it has reached dangerous levels and you should turn it off. Ozone is a toxic gas. Molecularly it is similar to oxygen except that it has an extra third oxygen atom which makes it more unstable. Even in small amounts, ozone can damage the lungs and cause coughing; chest pain; irregular breathing; irritation of eyes, nose and throat; and makes it difficult to fight infection. These symptoms can be worse in people with underlying respiratory conditions, such as asthma or COPD. Recovery is possible if exposure was short-lived. Greater exposure and higher concentrations can cause permanent damage. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), "ozone used in concentrations that do not exceed sanitary standards is not effective in removing viruses, bacteria, mold or other biological pollutants." In other words, ozone will not kill COVID-19, a gastrointestinal virus, a common cold, or mold growing on food unless you are likely exceeding public health standards. You may need to increase the ozone concentration five to ten times the standard to achieve decontamination. Also in this case, no dangerous impurities trapped on the porous surface can be left untouched. It would be counterproductive to use an ozone generator to clean the air. As the National Institute of Environmental Sciences, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), states, "ozone plants must produce dangerous amounts of ozone to generate enough ozone to be potentially effective."
