Not always better than the original.

This is my second UAG iPad case. My previous iPad Pro was protected by first generation Metropolis. Its flaws were minimal, with the Apple Pencil crowding too easily and the case sitting casually on an open edge. Both were minor issues. The protection offered and the durability were very good. The fit and finish were great. My new iPad deserves a case that suits its position. So I just ordered a replacement for the same case updated for this iPad generation. It has the same excellent build quality. The materials are grippy and surprisingly tactile. And the improvements over the previous case are evident. Thanks to the square shape of the new iPad Pro, the case fits perfectly. The lid is tight and closes with a magnet. It also helps with the Apple Pencil, which stays secured in an easy-to-access holder. The magnetic clip just adds a little more restraint. Two complaints, one small, one big. Using the standard Apple charging cable is very simple. But at the same time I bought a longer Apple cable and a slightly larger Lightning connector. It's enough that he doesn't get in so easily. This is actually a minor issue as it disrupts the nice click when the cable is tight. The biggest problem is the lid. Still well made, very durable, able to hold an iPad in many different ways. But that useful little magnetic clip is now in the way. and there's no way to flatten it in a useful way. Who would want to put an iPad with a soft back facing the screen on a questionable surface? Not me. And you wouldn't have to do that if the lid were removable. That's my real disadvantage in this case. The lid is permanently connected to the body. That's all. I used to come home, take off the case and use my iPad. Now it feels clunky, and when the lid is pulled backwards, I kind of don't like it. I still like the case for mobile use, but I would like a removable cover.
