My wife bought this for me knowing my love for the grill but also knowing we live in a cold state. After reading many positive reviews, I ordered. We liked trying it, but were only disappointed. It was between this device and the Zojirushi EB-DLC10 Indoor Electric Grill. The block is infrared, so much so that there's a warning on the side not to look directly at the light, which is difficult considering that's where you put your food. Despite this warning we tried the skirt steak and after waiting a full fifteen minutes we put the steak in and immediately noticed two major problems. First, the device is so bright you can't even see the surface of the meat to judge if it's turning etc. Second, it doesn't heat up enough to set the meat or give high marks. We just turned grey. Smoke-free is a great idea, but going completely smoke-free gives you food that doesn't feel like it's been grilled. The Zojirushi EB-DLC10 indoor electric grill, which is $30 cheaper, heats the grill surface directly and keeps the surface temperature above 500 degrees, the best this unit could do was 430 degrees according to our laser thermometer. We are not paid by any company and have not received any discounts on any of the grills. And save the Zoji. zoji produces enough smoke to create grilled flavor at a lower cost.
