Review on 2 Pack Sectional Couch Connector Screws For Furniture Assembly by Kevin Webb

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Well made, but you'll need plenty of mounting depth & space for the clamp side!

I tried to install two of these connectors on a large 2-piece sectional.First, they're very sturdy. I imagine that once installed on something with appropriate mounting surface, that they'd do a good job holding things together. However, in my case, the only available mounting surface for these connectors is 3/8" of an inch of wood area at the edges of the two sectional pieces I'm trying to connect. That's fine for the side with the triangle nub - it's right at the edge where you want it for aligning the two pieces to fit together. However, that same 3/8" surface at the edge of the mounting point on the other piece to be attached is much too close for the jaw-piece to be able to clamp things together with no gap.I tried rotating the jaw 180 degrees, which brings the serrated jaws back far enough that there'd be no gap between the sections when connected. But doing so means the spring retainer that gives the serrated jaws tension is no longer over the steel mount plate and the spring pops out. If I were feeling really industrious, I could rotate the clamp only 90 degrees and try to drill another hole 1-5/8" distant from the mounting screw on what would be the front corner of the clamp - but I don't have a drill press and this seems like a lot of effort (the rotating jaw will make getting a screw into that hole a challenge possibly. Also, this means the jaw is offset so whatever measurements you took to align the two pieces has to be recalculated. And I was hoping this would be a 30 minute job tops (flipping the sectional couch sections over, measuring, marking install locations with tape, drilling holes, mounting hardware, testing fit, vacuuming, putting things back in place)! In short, if your mount surface is narrow and right at the edge of the two surfaces you are trying to join, these connectors might not be a fit.

Pros
  • Exactly what I needed to keep my couch sections together.
Cons
  • May require multiple packs for larger sofas
