Rarely needs to solder electronics/small parts. For someone like me, this is a pretty complete setup at a reasonable price. The magnifying glass is a nice addition that most base sets don't have. The last time I had to solder an electronic device, I used an old soldering iron, an oversized spool of solder (better suited for soldering copper wires), and a soldering tip that had seen its best days. There has been a catastrophe. I was able to successfully remove old solder (I replaced the battery) and burnt thin wires due to the wrong hardware. This whole mess cost me more than this set. Now I have the right tools, the right tips, a desoldering tool, solder for the electronics, and a way to see the part I'm working on without having to press it against a flat table. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that the clamps that hold the various adjustable parts in place are difficult to tighten. I had to use two pairs of pliers to make the adjustment.
