Review on KISAE Technology DMT1230 Battery Charger by Sandra Egan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Two chargers in one. Excellent support.

First of all, the instructions are written in detail and are easy to understand. Second, when I emailed a technical question to support, I received a technical response from a North American person who understood what I was getting at and was able to explain exactly how the product works in this use case. As for the product itself - I usually never buy anything without reviews but other KISAE products have good reviews so this seems like a good company. I was between the KISAE and Victron and chose the DMT1230 because it has a feature that no other charger has - an auxiliary input for the alternator that powers the three stage charger. This means that the car's charging circuit can be used to charge home batteries without having to recharge them. This seems to be a loophole with other systems that can cause your batteries to overcharge if you don't turn them off manually. It also automatically disconnects from the starter battery if the voltage drops so you don't get stranded. Although the DMT1230 is one of the most expensive solar chargers, KISAE saved me money in my case. My RV has one of those typical 120v to 14v converters designed to boil your battery when plugged into shore power. Instead of replacing the converter with a $250 three-stage version, I applied a 14V output to the input of the DMT1230 generator. Regardless of whether the source is now shore power, a generator or a solar panel, the house battery will automatically be properly maintained.
