The design of this ice mold is perfect, but the materials used seem suspect. The tray arrived with a very strong chemical smell. I hand washed it and then made some ice cream. I put an ice cube in a glass of water and when it melted an oily film appeared on the water. Never mind, I thought, I must not have cleaned it well enough. I washed it in the dishwasher and made a new batch. Same smell, same movie. I hand washed it again and soaked it in boiling water. Same smell, same movie. it's coming back
