Review on πŸ’ͺ High-Performance Seio P320 Prop Pump with Magnet Mount - Enhanced 320 GPH by Omar Chavez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Needs a little tweaking

The pump is quiet and pumps enough water in my opinion. I keep it in a small 10 gallon salt tank that serves as a quarantine tank. 20 gallons would need 2 of these pumps to work properly. I doubt its 320 gph rating. That would mean that this little tank spins 32 times an hour. I do not think so. It probably outputs 190 to 200 gallons per hour. Although the water consumption in this case suits me. However, the mounting system leaves a lot to be desired. Because the heavy duty power cord exits the rear of the motor housing, it cannot be mounted on the side of the tank if the power head is oriented to blow along the tank. It needs to be mounted on the back wall of the tank and the head rotated 90 degrees. Even if you do this, unless you let the power cord back up straight 6-8 inches before rotating the top of the tank up and out, the cable's stiffness will overwhelm the magnetic mount and the head will end up pointing down. This will cause a sandstorm and ruin your tank. I understand this is a $15 product but their entire head series has this bug. It would be cost effective to change the power cord design so that it does not cause this problem. The magnetic mount is a definite improvement over the suction cup method of holding the pump to the tank wall. Hydor Korilla uses a magnetic mount with a large suction cup. Although it costs 25-30 dollars. I think Seio could embed the suction cup in a magnetic mount without doubling the cost of the device. I know it sounds like I'm being finicky, but you only need a head for one purpose - to move water in a controlled manner. Due to installation errors, a person is limited in the degree of control over the direction of water movement. It moves water efficiently and silently. And it's handier than most powerful heads in this price range, but next time I'll spend the extra $10-15 and buy another Hydor Korilla 425.
