Better than expected

I wasn't expecting much as I read a lot of product reviews and some of them weren't very good. Filters aren't very durable when wet, but that's not to be expected either. The essence of the filter is that it is actually not a filter, but a wick. Its purpose is to collect as much water as possible at the top and around the intake vents so the fan can vaporize the water into the air. Simply put, only water (H2O) evaporates into the air. If you get white dust, your fan may need cleaning. The crusted part at the top of the filter represents everything in your water that isn't actually H20. Basically everything in the field of water treatment to make your water safe. Or it could be minerals from well water. It could also be a bacteriostat if you use one. This is the next part of the review. I use Bacteriostat on EVERY refill. 5cc/gallon. And I have NEVER seen mold. Do not shorten this process and stop worrying about air poisoning. It does not evaporate into the air. It also introduces particles into your humidifier and onto your wick. However, I would recommend wearing gloves when cleaning your humidifier as these chemicals are in a more concentrated crystalline form, or at least washed off afterwards. Remember: anything in your home can kill you if used incorrectly, so stop whining about toxic chemicals. Mold can kill you too, so make your choice.
