I bought my $80 purebred puppy food at the pet store but he was sick for a week. After a $500 visit and a 2 pound (!) weight loss, the vet told me he was allergic to one of the "organic" ingredients in the food. Which of? I do not know. The only way to find out is through allergy and bankruptcy testing. My dog was pedigree fed as a child and lived to be 16 years old. So my vet and I agreed that we would phase out this canned food that didn't contain at least one of the boutique brand's ingredients. My pup endured the change, immediately gained 2 pounds and continued to thrive for 7 days. I'm not trying to disparage boutique brands, but sometimes the basics just work. Thank you family tree.
