I think we're on our way to something good!

I have a special needs little cat named Loki. He has coronary artery disease (cerebellar hypoplasia disease). His cerebellum did not grow properly in the womb. So his motor skills are a bit out of whack. As a child, he suffered several concussions, hitting doors and walls with full force, damaging his retina as a result. Now he's got cataracts in one eye, so he's practically blind. And he's only 6 years old. He never peed much in the litter box, although he did poop in the litter box. We got around this by inserting puppy pads for peeing. Then recently I just started relieving myself in the kitchen. The vet examined him, everything is fine - no cold, the kidneys are fine. I sincerely believe that little guy has dementia. So we needed a new solution as even diapers didn't work. I found a pet diaper that fits him. The tail opening for the diaper is a little large and this allowed him to poop outside the diaper. But to be honest I agree with that as the alternative is bathing the little guy every day to wash him and I really wouldn't want any of us to do that. I'm just glad he didn't urinate on the floor this morning. The rescue suit (small) is too small. The medium I ordered fits him perfectly. And it keeps the diaper on him. I like the buttons more than the velcro on the first suit I bought (too big) from another seller. The velcro was too tight and I felt it would be too uncomfortable for him. This will likely be a long-term fix for our little guy as long as he's with us. To be honest I don't expect him to live more than 12 years after all those concussions and now he's 6 years old. I'll research disposable human baby diapers for him and see how it works for him as dog diapers are a bit more expensive, or if I can find reusable puppy/cat diapers that aren't too bulky and maybe using heavy duty menstrual pads, Flow cutting I can go this way. I found a YouTube video showing how to cut a hole in the ponytail and seal the diaper with first aid tape to keep the liquid absorbing crystals in the diaper. So that's also an option.
