This is my third Shark mop. They hardly change over the years. sometimes not well done. The reason for their failure is not necessarily improper design, but rather suboptimal parts in the vapor passage areas. I recommend (as does the manufacturer) to use distilled water in this device. It wears out faster in hard water. A small amount of vinegar in the water tank won't hurt either, unless you're using it on carpet. It doesn't hurt either, except for the vinegar smell that lingers for days (which I don't recommend). The item itself is very easy to use. The reason for 4 stars is that if you don't know how to take care of this mop it won't last long. Spend a few minutes each time you use it and make sure you DRAIN IT when you're done. Actually, I would turn it upside down (squeegee end up) and leave out the little cap on the water tank to allow air to circulate. This also allows residual water to "drain" back into the tank, with air helping to dry it. Is it the vinegar? : Removes alkali in water. This is a type of fabric softener as well as a cleaner for tile surfaces. I recommend this item without hesitation. Take care of it a little and it will last longer.
