Review on 🍵 Hamilton Beach Electric Tea Kettle - 1.8L Cordless Water Boiler with Auto-Shutoff & Boil-Dry Protection - Black (K6080) by Geoff Cooper

Not the most stylish, but it works. We tested several more expensive versions from other manufacturers. Two had lids that opened with a button. Both opening mechanisms eventually collapsed. We had a completely stainless Cuisinart kettle. We started smelling this horrible burnt plastic smell while using it. I disassembled the base and found burnt insulation and melted plastic. This is after months (not years) of normal home use. This Hamilton Beach is a replacement for this Cuisinart. It boils water a bit slower than some of the others, only 1500w instead of 1750. But not slower enough to make a real difference. The included instructions say to boil three pots of water before first use and throw each one away. We did not find any odor problems. The only criticism - I think it's important enough to deduct a star - is the unnecessarily short cable. It's almost two feet. If I'm too incompetent to trust myself with a three foot line, then I'm certainly too incompetent to be anywhere near boiling water.
