The pump broke on first use so I blew it up the old fashioned way. Not easy with asthma. If your dog has a long neck and muzzle like mine, then this ring is not big enough. It hugs his neck perfectly, but doesn't stick out far enough for him to chew his tail. I had to borrow a bigger one from a friend and even then I have to use them together. This dog is full of determination! But since he doesn't like wearing it that much, I don't use it as a disciplinary measure. He has an OCD/anxious licking problem that I'm trying to get rid of. The third time, when I have to tell him to stop an hour later, I put the collar on for a while. Now he's learning that if I ask him if he wants a collar, he has to stop.
