Review on ๐Ÿšด Ergon GP1 Ergonomic Lock-on Bicycle Handlebar Grips: Ideal for Hybrid, E-Bikes, and Mountain Bikes - Regular Size, Gripshift or Rohloff/Nexus Compatible - Black/Gray by Kyle Terry

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The beefy ergonomic handlebar grips do not fit the Trek FX handlebar.

I wanted to replace the comfy silicone grips on my Trek FX3 and bought these Ergon grips after reading some reviews (but clearly not accurate enough) and seeing them on Revain. As I was constantly trying to put on rubber gloves during the pandemic, I realized I have big hands, so I bought big Ergon pens. They are very large and while they fit me perfectly, I think I could use smaller grips. The stock handlebars on the Trek FX series are Satellite Isozone bars and the Ergon grips do not fit. Only OEM Bontrager grips will fit, and even then only one grip style will fit. I spent a morning trying unsuccessfully to install these grips before giving up and taking them to my LBS, who sold me a stock mountain bike handlebar (so I might swap out the grips with stock grips in the future I guess). Now that I have them installed I like them. I tilted them up a bit to match the angle of my palm, which is pretty comfortable. The most notable change, however, is the slightly wider handlebars, and it's worth noting that using wider handlebars on a city bike changes the way the bike rides as well as the ergonomics. The stock Trek grips lasted about 2 years before the silicone started cracking and peeling. I hope these Ergons last at least that long, but time will tell. No complaints so far other than installation issues.
