These gloves are the warmest I've ever bought for my 6 kids. it is a leash. These are medium quality warm gloves that will definitely last. For my wild and stubborn boys they will survive a winter, which is better than in years past with other brands that have survived a week or two - they climb, fall, explore, hike, sled, ski all winter, and everyone Glove I buy for her is a big hit.
