I'm almost 75 years old and I have sketchers walk about 45,000 steps a week on concrete and pavement. A pair lasts me about 8 months. I'm on my fourth now. I keep the previous one for the garage, creek hikes or whatever. They are very comfortable, light, breathable enough and offer enough lateral support for walking on sidewalks and streets. A few times a week I step on a rock or crack or some kind of obstacle. I've never sprained my ankle in these shoes. I used to buy running shoes but they didn't have lateral support and I found my ankle buckled too often. I assume they are designed to go straight on flat surfaces. However, I once tried the Sketchers on a pickleball court and found that they didn't have enough lateral support for it. I use pumps for that. They aren't that comfortable but protect my ankles. Skechers are easy to wash, just toss them with your pants or towels and then set them aside to dry. They come out perfect.
