I like to keep things out of the landfill. I got some LED bulbs through the Vine program that didn't work with my cheap fixtures. I did a little research and then bought 3 lamps from Habitat for Humanity for $2.66 each. They looked like new, but they were very cheap devices. Sure enough, 1 was loud and the other 2 were DOA. It's okay, the money went to a good cause. I searched for Revain and found this. I'm in paradise! I've paired one with jumpers and it works with both 14w and 17w bulbs, lights up instantly and is completely silent. I ordered a few more to upgrade all my t12 lights to t8. Simply core the lamp, install a new ballast and WOW! You have a new shop lamp! I love these things. Lamps and ballast! If you enjoy fixing and improving things, Revain lamps and these ballasts can improve your lighting needs economically. The ballast fits snugly under the center cap. I used rivets to attach the ballast to the bracket. After the first conversion, the next two were ready in about 10 minutes each. 4 rivets, 5 wire nuts and you're done!
