Review on Free Spirit Dog Bark Collar: Waterproof Anti-Bark Training Collar with 15 Auto-Adjusting Levels for Effective, No Harm Shock Control – For Dogs 8 lb and Up by Karen Johnson

I put this on my 15 lb poodle. "Bob," or "Bobby Bananas," as we affectionately call him, never wore a bark collar, despite a bad habit of barking uncontrollably when trucks loaded with Mail, FedEx, or UPS drove past our home. We have used a different brand of collar on another dog in the past but I didn't like that it only had one setting which I thought would hurt Bob so we never used it on him. Test ride Free Spirit Bark Collar I put the battery in. NOT an easy task! Other collars we have used on our dogs have a way to easily insert and remove the battery with a coin, but this collar requires a very small hex nut tool (not included) to remove the 4 attachment points just to access the battery compartment. Much harder than it should be. The 1/2 inch (longer) contact pins were attached to the collar and these are the ones we chose for Bob. His hair is longer, and although the tips touched his neck, we didn't want to have to tighten the collar to make contact. The collar fit well and it didn't move. The instructions said it should not be worn on the dog more than 12 hours a day. The working day was filled with deliveries to our home and we finished work after six hours. The first loud bark - nothing. The second loud bark – Bob barked as if being corrected. The dog then went into hyperbarking mode. and despite Free Spirit's claims of increased shock correction, nothing appears to have been done. The collar was useless - at least for Bob. he was used to the shock, or the sustained blows were too weak to notice. sensitive to even the slightest correction of physical touch; like being stabbed in the back after stealing a cookie from a coffee table so I think if he was shocked it would be obvious to us. very disappointed with the poor performance of this product. I do not recommend it to others.
