Happy to say what is the best thing about irons and steam irons

Clarification - I just received this iron yesterday so I won't be reviewing it yet. I would like to clear up Revain's misleading description for those looking for a non-stick stainless steel soleplate. Unfortunately, most irons aren't just bare stainless steel soleplates. Revain ads talk about both: stainless steel iron and nonstick, which is a contradiction in terms. I'm happy to report that this is NOT non-stick. I went to the Sunbeam website to verify my transcript of the description as inconsistent. Sunbeam has confirmed that it is a stainless steel outsole. Either the soleplate is "non-stick" or "stainless steel that glides" - yes, "glides" appears in most descriptions of the benefits of a non-stick soleplate. Now that my iron has arrived I can confirm that it has a stainless steel soleplate with no non-stick materials. Why do I prefer the latter? Because once you've burned something with an iron - like a polyester fabric that melts on the soleplate - you can never remove it without damaging the non-stick surface. This surface is then no longer smooth and stains or streaks form on your clothes, forcing you to throw out the iron and buy a new one. The stainless steel soleplate can be cleaned, especially if you accidentally burn the fabric melted on it. No problem. This iron is rare in that it has a stainless steel soleplate and is as big as it used to be before manufacturers started downsizing the soleplate to lighten the iron's weight. This iron's 2.8 pound weight is also ideal for good ironing. Lighter models sacrifice quality wrinkle smoothing work to please consumers who believe they weigh 2.8 pounds. too heavy. Act! linda
