I've got a built-in home office desk that creates some lengthy runs to power outlets or my minitower computer, and this is perfect to set things up without special length cords.I didn't consider my desk back edge spacing very well - the top only has a little over 1/2" overhang past paneling all around it. But that's just enough for the clamp on this to hold in place short of actively trying to slide it off.The outlet panel is tilted up at a fixed angle - giving a little better access when reaching it across the desk, and a little more room if you're plugging in larger AC adapters. There's a bit more than 1.5" from the ground socket to where the desk surface will be.I keep a couple of USB cords in it now, usually coiled under a monitor stand. One's a custom charger for a watch, the other has a magnetic connector for my phone. Both are fairly short, so this is a lot better than temporarily connecting to my PC and resting the charging device on top or beside that. The cord for this strip is really nice - the flat shape is my preference and the plug is angled to avoid blocking an outlet below.
