Test of the best D4s DSLRs

The D4s is a big step forward for me. I shoot on the go and in the studio, and the dual-axis ergonomics really turned out to be an unexpected plus. The FX sensor produces flawless images with great detail and color balance. I like the flexibility of the format because I usually know in advance whether the resulting images will be for small covers, websites, or large color prints. This way I can adjust the capture size and quality to maximize my storage space and not spend a lot of time in Lightroom or Photoshop working on 30MB images. The professional metal body has already paid for itself by being able to beat and keep ticking. Keep in mind that this is not a lightweight camera and you will be adding a lot of weight when using lenses like the Nikon 70-200mm or 16-35mm. This is not D40. I've upgraded from my trusted D300, which isn't light either, so I wasn't too shocked by the weight. If you're considering the D4 and have one of today's lightweight cameras, make sure you keep the D4 with a representative lens before you spend the money. However, it's not overly heavy or bulky and feels very comfortable in the hand. All the controls are where they should be and everything feels natural to me. The sheer number of features inevitably leads to a layered menu system that can be intimidating to those unfamiliar with the Nikon system. But then again, this isn't a camera for the first-time buyer or casual user. If this is you, other options may work best for you. After all, great photos don't come from professional cameras, but from great glass like 70-200mm or 16-35mm f/4 and an artist's eye. Don't waste your time and money if you don't understand this simple fact. If you're on a tight budget, and who isn't, invest in glass and training/books that will make you a great photographer. D4s is just a brush. It can't make you a great artist.
