I used to always use DMC cross stitch needles. They come with the kits I buy and I naively thought they must therefore be the best tools for the job. I have used in the past. I recently lost it so I had to buy a replacement as I didn't have a spare of that size. After much searching these gold John James needles looked fine to me but I was very concerned they would be too sharp as the one I was using was blunter on the tip. Now when I use one of these needles it has speeded up my embroidery at a crazy rate. I am SO HAPPY I lost my DMC needle and bought it as a replacement. The needles are really sharper but instead of causing discomfort, it helps gently lift the needle in tight spots without ruining previous stitches. Also, my thread twists MUCH less than before, which also saves time. It takes me longer to thread these needles as the eye is smaller (so I can buy a needle threader) but overall it's still a time saver. I haven't had any problems with the needles bending.
