About 10 years ago I had a complete set of 6" DMT Dia Sharp stones that were stolen. They were top quality and I couldn't get enough of them so I decided to upgrade to an 8 inch set. The quality of DMT's Dia-Sharp products has clearly deteriorated over the years. This stone was terrible! The texture of the surface was very uneven: oversized diamonds were scattered across the plate, very much like spatter from bad welding. The area near the rim was completely free of diamonds. Nothing but bare metal. I contacted DMT directly and was told I would have to "break in" the stones to remove the larger diamonds. I asked for a special procedure for this and got the same. I was told to move the piece of metal slightly around the service of the eight until it flattened out. Tried it 3 times for 10 minutes each but saw absolutely no improvement. Pictures. I provided them with the same photos shown here. The customer service department apologized and told me that "sometimes things like this slip through". And they advised me to contact Revain for a replacement. I started a return with Revain customer service, which is phenomenal by the way, and they sent me a new stone before I had even packed the old one to send it back. It arrived in almost the same condition as the old one. I was getting frustrated because I really needed a set of good quality diamond stones for my sharpening endeavors. My favorite stone is the small one that I keep in a leather pouch in my tool chest. So I went after that stone to see what manufacturer's name was on it. This is an EZE lap stone. I scoured the internet and found stones of exactly the same size. So I ordered a set. They all arrived in perfect condition with no problems. Don't waste your money on DMT. Simply order EZE-Lap bricks and you're done. quality day and night
