I did a lot of research before purchasing these. I've read complaints about them not looking new after washing etc. I found them perfect. Make-up stains of course. If you want a nice white tampon every time, you should probably ditch reusable pads. They don't absorb too much liquid. For me they are not too soft and not too rough. I use the bag they come with to store my dirty stuff and then wash them in a much larger laundry bag. The container is cute and practical. I'm pretty happy with them, but I also didn't expect miracles from something under $15.
