This duvet has a nice soft "fur" on top and an even softer fleece on the bottom. It's lightweight yet retains heat. Both my wife and I love this comforter for all of the reasons previously mentioned. We slept under the covers all summer, and a few weeks ago we threw a heavy blanket over him. Although we tucked everything under our chins, we got a little cold at night, but otherwise we slept well. Once this blanket arrived, we took off the heavy blanket and added it. The next morning my wife and I reported that we had woken up in the night sweating and had to pull back the covers. Apparently, the fleece retains your body heat and keeps you toasty all night while being light enough to keep you moving. Our nighttime temps have dropped into the 40's lately and this blanket has kept us warm. Actually I'm trying to see if I can find another in my teenager's room to consider. Before I fall asleep, I have to pull the covers up to the middle of my torso or else I'll wake up fried at night. I wish I had known years ago that such a light blanket could be so warm.
