I have two more French Press coffee machines. I bought it because of the built in hourglass concept but had to return it the same day I received it. I had to remove a splinter from the bamboo handle and the bamboo handle has sharp edges. While it won't cut your fingers, it's uncomfortable to hold. When I wash it before first use, the soapy water stays between the glass and the bottom of the metal holder. Washing out soap bubbles takes time. One of the four connection points between the base plate and the cylindrical metal holder is pointed and can pose a safety hazard when hand washing. Haven't actually tried it, but the filter seems small and doesn't offer a secure fit to the glass. I suspect some coffee beans might leak out.
