So the thing is 100% plastic except for an internal spring and maybe some parts in there. I cannot conceive of any excuse not to use metal on the connector and swivel - that critical first inch. I'm going to be taking this off and putting it on several times a month at the gym so I don't have to use their stupid orchid-misters. Yeah I know -- but I'm old. So we'll see how long it survives if I treat it like it's made of plastic .
