The simplicity of this program is amazing for beginners! This software allows you to create simple maps with minimum efforts without having technical knowledge about map data sources or how mapping works in general.

If your looking only at creating maps then it's perfect but if you're trying to use some advanced features such as 3D view etc I would say that there are better options out there which have more functionality included like QGis. It could be helpful when starting off because of its ease-of-use compared with other programs available today. You can easily make basic maps using point coordinates from Google Maps API (e.g., address) and save them into file formats such as KML/KMZ.
