Review on πŸ’¦ KIT4CAT Home Wellness Test for Cats: Hydrophobic Litter for Urine Collection & Test Strips to Detect Diabetes, Kidney Conditions, UTI, and Blood in Urine by Joe Daniels

Easy to use but may be inaccurate

I purchased this test kit because my cat, who I suspected had urinary tract problems, would not allow me to collect urine by using holding a container under her while she urinated. (Can you blame him?) Hydrophobic sand worked much better. I have to agree with other reviewers that there isn't a lot of sand in this set. It didn't even cover the bottom of the small litter box. Therefore, I recommend buying an additional sandbag, e.g. B. a 2 lb Kit4Cat sack. As for the actual test, things went well. The urine was easy to collect with the included dropper and tube, and it was easy to dip the wand in and place it on the key. I'm not sure how accurate the results were in the general scheme of things. Using the kit, my cat's urine tested positive for an abnormal pH, which Coastline Global says indicates a urinary tract infection, and the urine may or may not have tested positive for protein - the colors were a bit ambiguous. I took the sample to the vet who, after doing his own urinalysis, told me there was no UTI or protein in the urine. As an aside, my cat had crystals in her urine so she needed something to treat. All in all, this set was easy to use, but I'm not sure if it's accurate. He told me there was a problem although he may have figured out what the problem was but then again I already suspected there was a problem which is why I bought this kit in the first place. For future testing, I purchased the sand I mentioned earlier, as well as "1 Canine, Feline, Pet Urine Test Strip for pH, Infection, Veterinary Diabetes Test Parameters - 50 Strips Per Bath" which is relatively are cheap and apparently could be more professional. Even if someone else thinks doing it in a regular litter box is a good idea - I wouldn't do it. I would recommend buying a disposable test box. Otherwise, if you try to toss a regular tray with these things in a bag, you end up with some sort of mess. Luckily I tried pouring it over the tub because although I tried to be careful as the urine and sand don't mix I ended up spilling some of both. It would be a lot easier to throw everything away.
