I used canon G11 and G1 X. And I can say with confidence that compared to model 11, 15 did not become some kind of breakthrough or cool novelty. The final frame quality remains comparable, especially if you also process the photo. The high aperture of the lens is, of course, good, but it does not affect the quality and convenience of shooting as much as we would like. For example on G11 with max. aperture 2.8 in an ordinary apartment with two lighting lamps at iso 100, shutter speed is about 1/8 sec, and on G15 with aperture 1.8 iso100, shutter speed is 1/15 sec. The difference is not that big. And if you shoot handheld at night, then the G15 requires an increase in sensitivity to 400-800 units for the correct exposure. which significantly affects the image noise. But there is still progress in optics, this cannot be denied. And I’ll also note the dimensions - of course they have become much more compact than their predecessors - but meanwhile, for my large palms, the grip has become much more uncomfortable. The platform in front of the case has a protrusion of only a couple of millimeters. It would be better if it was heavier and a little thicker. In general, when photographing at low and medium iso, or from a tripod at a slow shutter speed, the quality of the frames is the highest, given the class and size of the device.
