Bought to write a lot of equipment boxes, the scanner made it easy to write details, used Excel to write, and after writing the barcode, the scanner seems to hit the enter key, so Excel falls into the line, works in Word and also other applications. The clocks and records are accurate. Plug and play, all you need is an open spreadsheet or word processor document and it will fill the spreadsheet with scanned barcode numbers. I use it for tutorial demos and it's really effective. If you want it to check stocks etc, you're probably better off paying a little more for the wireless version, or you'll end up lugging around a tablet or laptop.
