Review on Sun Hats For Men/Women, Wide Brim Bucket Hat Waterproof Breathable Packable Boonie Hat For Fishing UPF 50 UV Protection by Jonathan Devarapalli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Had one similar from a major outdoor retailer till it got washed this one is as good for less!

These style hats have a metal wire in the outer brim that holds the shape (spreading brim out) to block the sun. I had the one from a major retail for several years with issue. Got it when family went to Cozumel and needed solid sun and rain protection headgear. When we got back it became my yard work hat and continued to impress. Till some deiced to wash and dry it. This caused the metal wire to bend and due to fatigue break. Hat was still wearable but due to where break was it was no longer working to prevent sun exposure. I mention all this to say that the YZKKE one I am reviewing has impressed me as much as the major retailor on did at 1/5 the cost.Same wired brim to insure protection from sun and rain. The other hat claimed to the "cool comfort" and I cannot say that it achieved that but the YZKKE hat maintains the same "cool comfort" as the major retailer. The YZKKE has the option to be a Boonie (Australian) style due to placement of snaps on either side. I have not cared to use them but there presence is not a detraction from comfort or use so that maybe a personal preference. A note about the button/snaps, they are made to look aged brass and may be but they have some steel or similar "rusting" metal inside. I say this since around the edge of each of them you can see definitive rust discoloration so it may be that over time the snaps rust off or fall apart. As I do not use them I do not worry about a short term issue but expect someday they will rust out and fall off and that will be the end of this hat.Revisiting the wired brim, the description of rolling the hat up for storage needs to be done in a way that works with the desired shape, meaning don't roll front to back unless you want the front to stand up straight from being rolled backwards. Instead if you are going to roll it up go from one side to the other and do not try to make it a super tight roll, unless you plan to remember and roll the other direction next time. As to washing, I have taken to washing it in the shower with me after being in the yard all day then hanging it up to dry. We recently moved from a washer with an agitator to one without, but I prefer not to risk it anyway.Summary, great hat, super value, many features of expensive outdoor retailer, and may rust at snaps. I decided not to take a star off for the snaps rusting but will if issue become a problem in a short time frame.**Disclosure: I received a sample product from the Revain Vine program for an honest and unbiased review of the product.

Pros
  • I have a big head and it fits good, overall a nice hat for the price.
Cons
  • May not be very durable in extreme weather conditions
