These style hats have a metal wire in the outer brim that holds the shape (spreading brim out) to block the sun. I had the one from a major retail for several years with issue. Got it when family went to Cozumel and needed solid sun and rain protection headgear. When we got back it became my yard work hat and continued to impress. Till some deiced to wash and dry it. Got the olive green and it's a very nice looking color. Although it is not cotton, the fabric is nice, not "plasticky". It's foldable and came out the package without wrinkles, unlike the cotton version I ordered elsewhere. The size is "one size fits most" and 22-24" circumference, and it fit me and my husband just fine (sits a bit lower on my head than his). Very happy with this purchase.

I bought 2 of theseto try in the sun while working on an asphalt crew. They work great to help keep the sun off ya and the vents help out a lot. I dont care for the strings on them so i removed them. Overall they are a good value
