A previous reviewer complained about cables not made by Tripp Lite; On the cable ends and in my pocket, my cables were in clear Tripp Lite condition. I ordered three of these. I already had several other USB extenders (not Tripp Lite) that were so useful that I ordered three more. Some of the ways I use them, or have used them in the past, is to extend the printer, scanner, external drive, or keyboard USB cable and allow easy front access to the computer's rear USB ports . You should always check the manufacturer's recommendations. for the device you are connecting it to. Some recommend that USB cables should not exceed a certain length. These cables are so useful in so many different situations that I'd rather buy them six feet and wrap them neatly with zip ties when I need them shorter than buying shorter ones. Cable that may be too short for some purposes. Whether you should buy a six foot cable or a shorter one depends entirely on your situation. I have no way of knowing if these cables work better than other brands, or if the connectors are real gold, but they work, the cables I received were exactly what I ordered and the price true.
