I used a double mattress pad on a hospital sofa. I had someone look after it and kept it in the box until we got to the room and then unpacked it. The box was manageable. I took two elastic cords and wrapped them around each day. As we walked I wrapped it in string to make it easier to move. I figured if I can't move it due to its size and have to leave it in the hospital, it's still worth getting. It saved my body from so much pain to sleep on the softness it offered. This was a game changer for me. The smell came from below and didn't bother me because the ventilation in the hospital was excellent. However, when I brought it home, it was uncomfortable in the same room for a few days. Everything is fine now and we hope we never have to go to the hospital again, but if that happens I will either pack my mattress topper or buy a new one, packed in a box for easier carrying. *** Can anyone suggest how to repack (besides trying on space bags and air extraction)? I hate buying a new one for my trip back to the hospital but since it has helped me a lot I will be buying a second one. That saved me from an earlier hospitalization.
